NANS KWARA CONDEMNS HARASSMENT OF STUDENTS BY EFCC, DESCRIBES THE ACT AS ABYSMAL AND INTOLERABLE
The attention of the leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students, Kwara state Axis, has been drawn to the recent intolerable and mischievous act of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) which involves barging into students' community and causing persistent attack and criticism on the students populace thereby leading to threat and distress .
If the mask of veracity must be unfolded, such flawed act is condemnable as it serves as an indication of potential and imminent danger to the students' community thereby making it unsafe for students to stay. Ordinarily, students' community is known to be a convenient and peaceful geographical entity where students are free from any form of oppressive and unpleasant thoughts or emotion. More so, there's need to embrace peaceful coexistence in all ramification of life as it's known to be the way out of inequity and violence and a golden ticket to enter a new, brighter future for humankind. Hence, All students are also important in this epic endeavor as the future generations need every hand they can get to receive a more equal, peaceful, and beautiful world.
The above stand is not to affirm that the leadership of NANS Kwara is in support of any fraudulent acts but to remediate the goof made by the EFCC at the point of discharging their duty. It's an obvious fact that this erroneous act was as a result of the petition received from the general public, nevertheless, there are procedures to take and factors to be considered before taking such step so as to avoid disrupting the peace of the students or violating their human right.
It is important to note that, NANS as the Apex students'body in Kwara will not in anyway support any unlawful act and at the same time will not tolerate anything that will affect the standard well- being of the students' populace. The leadership of the association, under the watch of Comr. Saleeman Yusuf Issah, AAT, ACA, is ready to work assiduously with the agency to have a crime free society which we all are clamouring but not in this minacious way, and It's on this basis that the previous administration of NANS Kwara, ably led by comr. Salami Wasiu Onidugbé, met with the zonal head of EFCC Ilorin zonal office, purposely to redeem the collaboration between the association and the commission.
It is pertinent to reiterate our readiness and preparedness to step up and probe into what the truth of the matter is. To this end, we hereby call on the EFCC to put a stop to the harrasment of students or barging into any students' community within Kwara state with a view to making student's blood run cold. Failure to do so, necessary action shall be taken by the entire Nigerian Students as we can't afford to continue to live in fear or apprehension, for we deserve better treatment.
