24, 704 graduands of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, were earlier today admitted to their various first degrees by the Senate of the University, at a colorful 14th combined special convocation ceremonies, witnessed by dignitaries including the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, (NUC), Professor Abdulrasheed Abubakar.
Abubakar who was represented by the Director of Studies at the NUC, Mr. Sunday Bassey Essien, said the Commission was proud of the moderate achievements recorded by the University within the short period of its becoming solely owned.
Out of the figure, the 753 graduands across the Faculties who made First Class degrees, were given special recognition.
In his address to the congregation, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Institution's Governing Council, Professor Ayodeji Omole, admonished all of them to remain focused in their endeavors and continue to be good ambassadors of the University.
He eulogized the Oyo State Governor for his leadership style that has proved effective particularly in the case of LAUTECH.
Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Mojeed Olaide Liasu, in his own address said LAUTECH is today a celebrated Institution due to the generosity of Governor Seyi Makinde and his strong belief in functional education that was a mirage before now.
