Yobe Varsity To Begin IJMB Programme by June – VC

The Yobe State University has completed arrangements to begin the Interim Matriculation Board (IJMB) programme latest by June 2022.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mala Daura said, YSU introduced the programme to complement the efforts of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration in improving the educational sector to fast-track the actualization of the State of Emergency declared by the government.

The IJMB is a one-year Advanced Level (A-Level) programme of the Federal Government moderated by the Ahmadu Bello University that would give alternative means of admission for students to gain entry into tertiary institutions in the country through Direct Entry.

Prof. Daura made the disclosure today during an interaction between the IJMB visitation panel from ABU and the management team of the University in Damaturu.

He added that the programme will help in addressing the challenges of admissions which institutions in the country grapple with noting that all deficiencies identified and recommendations made by the panel will be addressed to ensure the smooth take-off of the programme.

Earlier in his remark, the leader of the panel, Prof. A. I. Oyewale commended the advanced state of preparations for the commencement of the programme saying, “the university has met all the requirements to begin the programme.”

Prof. Oyewale who was fascinated by the Dr Good luck Ebele Jonathan library lauded the efforts of the management for putting in place a state of the art facility that will not only facilitate learning but also attract visitors.

He also praised the Director of Pre-degree Studies, Dr Sani Isa and his team for their tireless effort in designing and working for the success of the programme
