206 GRADUATES BAG FIRST CLASS AT COVENANT VARSITY’S 17th CONVOCATION

A total of 206 graduates of the Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, bagged First Class degree at its 2021/2022 convocation. A student in the Department of Accounting, College of Management and Social Sciences, Miss Dashe Fatima, emerged as the best-graduating student with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 5.0.

The university graduated 1,934 students comprising 206 first-class, 744 second-class upper, 620 second-class lower, 107 in third class; and 257 post-graduate students.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abiodun Adebayo, said the institution, on a rescue mission in education, is determined to raise a new generation of leaders that would restore the lost glory of Nigeria and the black race.

“In just two decades of its existence, Covenant University has become a leading world-class university and the best higher education destination for students in Africa. In addition, the institution emerged as the best university out of the 111 private universities in Nigeria by the Prestige Nigeria Education,” he said.

Chancellor of the institution, Dr. David Oyedepo, urged graduands to be productive and take responsibilities. Oyedepo said everyone was absolutely responsible for his or her outcome in life, as responsibility was the price of greatness.

“Life begins with a vision, no one arrives at a future he or she does not prepare for. It is time to wake up and take responsibility early because commitment to one’s vision is what is called responsibility,” he said.

The Registrar, Dr. Regina Tobi-David, said graduands have been transformed through the principles and core values of the institution to make impact in their immediate society.

“The institution has raised a new set of eagles to develop their world and rewrite the history of the black race,” she said. The Pro Chancellor, Bishop David Abioye, said what makes a real graduate is not in the ceremonial gown he wears, but in the challenges he or she has been prepared to face in the town and the cause he goes out to pursue hereafter.
