LASU GETS NEW DEPUTY VICE CHANCELLOR FOR ACADEMIC

The Senate of Lagos State University has appointed Prof. Olufunsho Abayomi Omobitan as the institution’s Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academics.

Prof. Omobitan won the election today, Monday, January 30, 2023, by a vote of 132 to 65 over Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences Prof. Raheem Olasupo Akewushola. Prof. Omobitan, an economist, is now the dean of the university’s faculty of social sciences.

He succeeds Professor Wahab Elias, whose two-year tenure ended in 2022.

The appointment of the new DVC (Academics) will be confirmed by the University’s Governing Council
