OAU MATRICULATES FRESH STUDENTS, EMPHASIZES ON ZERO TOLERANCE FOR EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE, CULTISM, OTHER VICES

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Simeon Bamire, of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, reiterated the institution's uncompromising stance against cultism and examination malpractices, among other vices. 

Represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof Bola Babalola, he conveyed this message during the Matriculation Ceremony for newly admitted students in the 2023/2024 academic session, held on Thursday at Ile-Ife.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Simeon Bamire, emphasized the university's historical contribution to producing high-quality personnel for national and international workforces. He encouraged new students to enhance their self-awareness, highlighting the university's esteemed reputation for knowledge and intellectual excellence. Bamire urged diligence in utilizing time wisely and congratulated the students on their selection from a competitive pool of 30,000 Post-UTME candidates.

He advised students to strive for success, cautioning against the perception of unlimited freedom without responsibility. The VC warned against social vices, emphasizing the university's zero tolerance for cultism, exam malpractices, violence, disregard for authorities, and sexual harassment. He implored students to choose positive influences, cultivate success-oriented attitudes, and assured parents that their children are in safe hands for comprehensive training on campus.
