TRANSPORTATION: SU ANNOUNCES TAKE OFF OF SECOND PARK, FIXES N100 AS FEE FOR MARCOPOLO BUSES

The Students Union, University of Ilorin, Ilorin has announced the take off of the second park of the university.

This is an effort by the students' union following the increase in bus prices due to the curent situation of the economy. To reduce the disadvantage of it on the students, the Smart purposed administration led by Victeg after interaction with the management announced the take off which will commence today, *October 28, 2024* with Marcopolo buses at *N100* and will route through Staff Quarters, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and down to the present school park in the morning till evening.

This was gathered by A-MEDIA UPDATE, in a press statement signed by the President and PRO of the union. It reads;

In view of the current economic situation of the country and attempt to further reduce the burden placed on students by highly monopolized transportation services (to and fro) on our campus, we are pleased to inform our colleagues that arising from our interaction with the University Management team, the idea of having second park is now to take off.

As a way of regulating the market, the Students' Union interacted with the University Administration to make operational the second park at the University Gate from which students can take buses or cabs to various areas on campus.

The take off which will commence today, *October 28, 2024* with Marcopolo buses at *N100* will route through Staff Quarters, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and down to the present school park in the morning till evening. Other business partners to join in operating from this park will have to be formally registered by the school, have such vehicle branded in University colour and prices regulated for operation within the campus.

We encourage our colleagues to take advantage of this initiative in easing transportation burdens as we applaud the University Administration for their timely support during this challenging time.

We reaffirm our commitment to enhancing the welfare and wellbeing of all Smart Unilorites.
